SOLAR SUBSIDY IN DELHI
In 2022 the Delhi government approved the draft solar policy to increase the share of solar in the electricity mix from 9% to 25%. Further, in an ambitious move, the government revised the capacity target from 2 GW to 6 GW by 2025!
The policy also provides multiple initiatives:
Generable-based incentives of up to ?3kWh will be provided to consumers from all sectors, be it residential, commercial, or industrial.
Capital subsidies will be provided to residential consumers for mounting raised structures with a minimum ground clearance of higher than 6 feet
No taxes or duties will be levied against the generation of rooftop solar systems
The policy also encourages new deployment models including community solar and Hybrid RESCO that help in overcoming space and financial constraints of solar installaion.
Solar Subsidy in Delhi
Although the Delhi government does not offer any additional subsidy, there is a central government portal through which any residential consumer from across India can avail the financial incentive.
Through the recently launched National Portal for Rooftop Solar, one can directly apply for subsidy online and track the entire process from application submission to transfer of funds to the respective bank account.
The subsidy details are as follows:
From 1kW to 3kW: ?14588/ kW
Between 3kW to 10kW: ?7294/kW. (?14588/ kW for the first 3kW and ?7294/kW for the rest)
Above 10kW: A fixed subsidy of ?94822
Resident Welfare Associations/Group Housing Societies (RWA/GHS): ?7294/Kw for common facilities up to 500 kWp @ 10 kWp per house
There are many benefits of availing of a subsidy under the DBT scheme. The best is the fact that the customers get their subsidy amount directly in their bank accounts within 30 days after the solar system becomes operational.
